Pangarap Foundation

In 1989, a group of Pasay City housewives with the Ina Anak, Inc., The Ladies of Charity of Pasay and The Brothers of the Sons of Mary, Health of the Sick started a Drop In Shelter for streetchildren near Cartimar in Pasay City. Their beneficiaries were the streetchildren around the city and those coming from the reclamation area where The Mall of Asia and other establishments are now. They provided a place for them to have dinner, take a bath, watch TV, sleep and breakfast after which they went back outside.

Mission: To accompany and support them on their journey towards recovery, development, reintegration and God’s Kingdom.

Vision: That through their experience of God’s Healing love, they will be restored to health of body, mind and spirit, becoming loving and responsible citizens in a child friendly community that acknowledges and supports their rights.

Goal: The recovery and sustained reintegration of the children and youth into their families and society.

They had a housefather and mother to look after them and later a tutor to give them a class before going out. Eventually they said that they would like to leave the street and be able to go to school. Fortunately a big ancestral house along Taft Avenue was offered and they called the project Pangarap (Dream).

Anak Tulay ng Kabataan

ANAK-Tnk was founded in 1998 to support Manila’s most unfortunate children: those living in extreme poverty in the streets and in the slums of the capital city of the Philippines.

Today, the foundation is run by Executive Director Father Matthieu Dauchez and Ms. Gloria Recio alongside a multidisciplinary team of local professionals.

The foundation’s action and purpose are being supported outside the Philippines by branches operating on all continents under the supervision of Mr. Pascal Breton.

Our priorities for the children :

Education: In the Philippines, one out of ten children does not receive any education

We enable and support the education of every child, from the moment he joins the foundation until he becomes independent.

Health: 40% of the urban population lives in conditions of extreme poverty

We cater to the medical needs of every child of the foundation and we train local communities to integrate basic health and hygiene concepts.

Nutrition: One out of ten children is malnourished and one out of three suffers from growth malnutrition. We provide children with balanced meals daily and we train local communities to raise awareness on nutrition issues.

Protection: from Drugs, violence, rape, prostitution, children are always the first victims

Friendship Home Father Luis Amigo

Friendship Home Fr. Luis Amigó was initially established in May 1991 as a shelter for a number of homeless and battered children. At that time Philippine statistics indicated that there were at least half a million “street children” in the country, or children in especially difficult circumstances. Friendship Home was able to give protection, shelter and complete health, medical, nutrition, educational, counseling, spiritual and other basic services to only a handful of them: children who used to live in empty tombs, a child sold for a sackful of rice; a child maimed for life by a drunkard of a father. These were just a few glimpses into the children’s lives before finding a second   family at Friendship Home.

In December 1992, Friendship Home was registered as a non-stock, non-profit organization. Its capacity to take care of the needs of more children increased under the wings of the Mater Dolorosa Parish in  19th  Avenue, East Rembo, City of Makati. With the help of the Manos Unidas,  a Spanish funding agency, the children were assured that they would have a safe and secure home for residential and non-residential care for as long as they are in need and on a long term basis.
